About This Site

herphafend.us is an independent resource covering the Herpafend supplement. We do not make it, sell it, ship it, or have any access to customer orders. We read the label, check the research behind what's on it, and publish what we find.

Why we built it

Search "Herpafend" and you'll find a dozen near-identical pages, most of them repeating the manufacturer's copy with a discount code attached. Several make claims the manufacturer's own FDA disclaimer contradicts. At least one frames prescription antivirals as "harsh chemicals" to be avoided.

That last one is the reason this site exists in its current form. People arrive at these pages after a diagnosis, often frightened and often embarrassed, and a page that nudges them away from effective treatment can do real damage — to them, and to whoever they're sleeping with. We wanted at least one page in that search result to tell the truth.

What we will and won't publish

• We won't claim the product treats or cures herpes. It doesn't. Nothing does. HSV lives in nerve cells for life.
• We won't discourage medical care. Aciclovir, valaciclovir and famciclovir are the evidence-based treatments, and suppressive therapy also reduces HSV-2 transmission. We say so plainly and repeatedly.
• We won't repeat the "bioshield" story. It's a marketing invention. Real viral latency is more interesting and we explain that instead.
• We won't publish review counts we can't trace. The "23,000 reviews at 4.94 stars" figure circulating on other pages has no verifiable source, so it doesn't appear on ours.
• We publish the interaction cautions. Echinacea and cat's claw are immunostimulants and are wrong for some people. The sales pages tend to leave that out.
• We give the product a real score. Ours is 3.2 out of 5. A page that scores everything five stars isn't reviewing anything.

How we assess a supplement

Three questions, in order. What's in it? What does the research on those ingredients genuinely show, as opposed to what a press release says it shows? And does the finished product have evidence of its own, or is the case built entirely from ingredient-level inference?

For Herpafend the answers are: nine reasonably chosen immune ingredients; modest and mixed evidence, strongest for L-lysine and zinc and weakest for the botanicals; and no, the finished formula has not been clinically tested. That's not damning — it's true of almost every supplement sold this way — but it should be stated rather than obscured.

On writing about a stigmatised condition

Herpes carries a level of shame disproportionate to what it actually is: a common, manageable viral infection that a large share of the adult population carries, most without knowing. That shame is what makes people vulnerable to marketing, because someone who feels they can't discuss a problem with a doctor is far more likely to buy a solution from a website.

We try not to trade on that. No fear-based language, no implied promises of a "clean" life, no suggestion that the condition is something to hide. If you take one thing from this site, we'd rather it be "talk to a doctor about suppressive therapy" than "buy this supplement."

How we're funded

Affiliate commission. If you buy through a link here, we earn a percentage at no extra cost to you. That's disclosed at the top of every page.

We're aware of what that incentive does, which is why the score is 3.2 rather than 5, why the comparison table has antivirals winning most rows, and why the strongest recommendation on the site is to see a doctor. A page that sells harder would earn more. We'd rather it be accurate.
